More transfer rumours today Gooners and the latest could be an interesting one if true, as Arsenal are linked with a move for Newcastle striker Demba Ba.
We all know a striker is a MUST when the transfer window re-opens as we’ve struggled badly in the final third at times this season, and Arsene himself has hinted he’ll bring in a new forward next month.
The latest name to be linked with a move to the Emirates is Demba Ba, with the Sun claiming Wenger will trigger his £7.5m release clause and offer him £60,000-a-week to move to north London.
Ba was strongly linked with a move in the summer but no team met his release clause fee so he remained at St James’ Park and has continued his excellent form, scoring 10 goals in 14 games so far this season.
Arsenal could certainly use that kind of return up front and while Olivier Giroud has settled well and has become something of a fan favourite, we certainly need more competition in the forward department and Ba would be a relative bargain at £7.5m.
The 27-year-old has so far rejected Newcastle’s attempts to re-negotiate his contract to remove the release clause and i would love this report to be true.
But is it? While the Sun is hardly regarded as a ‘top source’ i wouldn’t be surprised if Ba was one of the strikers Wenger is considering. He’s got Premier League experience and is well within our price range.
