Arsenal vs Cardiff City preview – team news & betting tips

Arsenal will be looking to close the gap on the top four when we take on Cardiff City at the Emirates Stadium this evening.

The game has been over-shadowed by the disappearance of Emiliano Sala after his plane went missing last week as he made his way back to Wales to start his new career at Cardiff.

Boss Neil Warnock has admitted he’s concerned his players might not be in the right frame of mind to play football but the game has gone ahead and Arsenal can’t afford to be take their eye off the ball.

We sit three points adrift of fourth placed Chelsea after beating them at the Emirates earlier this month so we desperately need to move level on points with the Blues ahead of their clash with Bournemouth on Wednesday.

Arsenal are the heavy odds-on favourites to win the game with Betolimp and we usually see-off the lower league teams with relative ease at home but our injury woes mean we can’t take anything for granted tonight.

Team news

We’ll be without Sokratis as he’s been ruled out for three weeks with an ankle injury that he suffered against Man Utd on Friday night while Laurent Koscielny is also out with a jaw problem.

With Rob Holding out for the season, Emery is going to have to get creative in the middle of defence. Dinos Mavropanos is in the squad but Nacho Monreal may get the nod.

Hector Bellerin is also out for the season so Stephan Lichtsteiner may come in at right-back while Danny Welbeck won’t play again this season due to a broken ankle.

Preferred line-up

football formations

Arsenal are the 1.22 odds-on favourites to win the game with Betolimp South Africa but for those who fancy an upset you can back the draw at 7.03 or a Cardiff win at 13.37.  I’m confident we won’t slip up tonight and I can see us scoring a few goals. Aubameyang should get plenty of chances against a weak Cardiff defence so he looks good value at 3.78 to score first. However, our defence is woeful and even Cardiff should get some opportunities so I can’t see us keeping a clean sheet. Both teams to score at 1.98 seems nailed on tonight. My prediction is a 3-1 victory for Arsenal, which is on offer at odds of 9.41 and I think that’s a great bet.
