Yann M’Vila…..remember this guy Gooners? Course you do. He was the hot story of the summer who was ‘understood’ to have had about 5 medicals at London Colney if you believe everything you read on Twitter. But predictably he never made the move to Arsenal in the end.
However, reports this weekend have claimed we’re back in for the midfielder and it’s understood Arsene Wenger is eyeing a £7m cut-price deal.
Rennes valued M’Vila at around £25m in the summer – which obviously put Arsene off – but after a string of disciplinary issues at the Euro’s, resulting in him being banned from international duty with France until June 2014, it seems his value has now dropped considerably.
The 22-year-old is in the final year of his contract so could be snapped up for as little as £7m, which could be a bit of a bargain if we can get him back to the form of last season.
M’Vila recently admitted he’d be open to a move if a decent offer comes in:
“I am at Rennes at the moment so let’s see what happens.
“If the club receives a good offer and I like the destination then I will go – there is no doubt about that.”
So what are you waiting for Arsene? Get on the blower and get a deal done! We could do with a midfield monster and M’Vila could be that man. He’s quick, young and has the physical strength to dominate the middle of the park. He’d be a great foil for the likes of Wilshere, Arteta and Cazorla.
But how reliable is this latest story? It started from the Daily Star – who are hardly the most reliable of sources – but if Arsene had a serious interest in the summer and M’Vila’s value has dropped to under £10m, I think the boss would certainly have a think about it. I’d rate this one at 3/5. What do you think Gooners?
