Another day, another batch of transfer rumours to bring you. Today we have the latest on links with Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila, Anderlecht’s Lucas Biglia and Barcelona striker David Villa.
Wenger rejects M’Vila?
After reporting only 2 days ago that we’ve renewed our interest in Yann M’Vila, it’s now being claimed by the Metro that Arsene Wenger has turned down the opportunity to sign the Frenchman for just £8m.
The report suggests the boss was offered the chance to sign the 22-year-old last week but decided against it due to concerns over the players attitude. You can’t blame Wenger for this. M’Vila has had a string of disciplinary issues and is currently banned from French national team duty until 2014.
His agent, Tim Hager, has also confirmed that we’ve not been in for the player:
‘There is interest from a lot of clubs. Yann has a good contract at Rennes – it is possible that we can stay there and be patient,’
‘Every transfer window we are asked about Arsenal because of what the newspapers say, but I have not spoken to them about Yann.’
Tim Hager is quoted as saying by the Metro.
It’s a shame as we really need a player like M’Vila, but I’m still not convinced the boss has completely ended his interest. Let’s see how this pans out. I’d still rate this as 3/5.
Biglia wants move?
Next up is Anderlecht midfielder Lucas Biglia who has apparently made it clear to the Belgian club that he wants a move this January. We’ve been linked with this lad for years and nothing has ever come of it but the Mirror report that Wenger has revived his interest as he looks to strengthen his midfield this month.
The 26-year-old Argentine has clocked up nearly 200 games for Anderlecht and has been capped 7 times for his country but I’m not convinced he’s the answer for Arsenal. I’d rate this one as 2/5. Just don’t see it happening.
Just as we were getting our hopes up that David Villa could actually be on his way to the Emirates this month, it’s being reported by Sky Sports News that Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has ruled out selling the striker.
The 31-year-old wants out of the Nou Camp in search of first team football and several sources have confirmed Wenger has already spoken directly with the player to try and lure him to north London ahead of a potential £16m move.
However, Rosell has ruled out selling this month insisting the Spanish giants need him until the end of the season:
“I completely rule out the transfer of Villa during the winter market.
“He is ours and we need him, there is a lot of the season left.”
Could this be part of the transfer ‘game’? Quite possibly. He could just be trying to drive the price up, but I’d still only give us a 2/5 chance of pulling this one off.
