Arsenal transfer target Jan Vertonghen has again issued a come-and-get-me plea to the Gunners, after admitting he would like a move this summer.
Arsene Wenger has been widely tipped to make a move for the Belgian stopper as he bids to shore up his defence this summer.
Vertonghen has all but confirmed he will be leaving Ajax after refusing to sign a contract extension, and with only one year remaining on his current deal, he will be available for around £10m. A real bargain considering he is 24-years-old and is already captain of Ajax and a regular for his country.
He is quoted by the Daily Mirror as saying he would like a move and has offers in the pipeline, but will remain focused on his duties with Ajax:
“Everybody knows that I’m open to a transfer, but you shouldn’t want to leave at all costs,” he told Algemeen Dagblad .
“I have a few things lined up at the moment, but it’s difficult to say anything about that at the moment. I’ll see what happens, if something becomes concrete.
“I’m focusing on putting in good performances and winning the league title for now,”
Vertonghen said in the Mirror newspaper.
I’d love to see this fella in the Red & White next season and he would give real depth to the back line. Tottenham have also been linked and i’d be gutted if he ended up there, he deserves better.
